I lived in Sudan in 1989 in Kordofan. It saddens me to see Sudan suffering from military and now regional powers. I know the difficulties and hardships of the landscape. I also know the character and beauty of the people. I never quite grasped the situation in Darfur, nor the peoples revolt in 2019 to oust al-Bashir so I appreciate your explanation.
The slogan "Darfur is all of us" struck me as the real sentiment of what I experienced in your country. May peace be upon all of you.
Thanks Rick. The two corrupt factions of the Sudanese political establishment, The Islamists and the Secularists, both are trying to exclude what one can call the revolutionary prospective of this war: that it is a just war against a genocidal group that the people asked for it to be dismantled.
Sudan has so many problems including ethnic tensions and wars, the revolution as a performance of mass healing in a way tried to resolve some of these tensions by slogans like «darfur is all of us ».
Hopefully one day you can go back and feel welcomed in Sudan. It is a beautiful country.
